Labor Day Poem

rsz_labor_day

For all those individuals, who spend the year working consistently

Spend some time to appreciate your work with others, and individually

So weather you cooking, traveling, clubbing, or grubbing

Just make sure you spend this day doing absolutely nothing

Celebrate for the ones who helped build this nation

Take a chance to reflect, and celebrate this creation

Enjoy each other today, tomorrow we have a job to do

We have to make sure our elected officials, are working as hard as me and you

Spoken Word Poem- Friday | Poetry Lobby

A prolific amount of people look forward to friday, the end of your week
For some people it’s payday, you and your friends get something to eat
You find your nearest fashion outlet
And grab the latest trendy outfit
Some go to a bar, some go to a club
Wherever you go, your blood alcohol level is up
You spend an entire week chasing for wealth
Friday, is the day you can treat yourself
Conceptualizing and conforming to your boss’s ideas
In this social atmosphere your as equal as he is
So enjoy yourself, know that your worth it
Tonight, you can make your life picture perfect
Instagram moments for Twitter and Facebook
Friday for some families, consist of a dinner they cook
A night parents and kids, forget about curfew
Watch movies, play games, have fun you deserve to

Slipping Away by Poetry Lobby

Loosing ourselves to a world that vehemently makes us change
If you don’t fit in with the status quo then your going to loose this game
Deficiency of acceptance will meet a most viable demise
Seeking the reassurance of others we often compromise

Uncertain for sure we can candidly call this freedom
Taught to work in corporate plantations, but never given a reason
Masking ourselves to those around us, hoping we will blend
Not embracing what’s inside, Suppressing it within

Taught to be this way from tv, news, and entertainment
I promise this meant to vent, this isn’t me complaining
Life is a giant wave with an ocean to explore
As we drift away, that’s when we can be ourselves
We don’t have to hide no-more

Hurry

031-busy-business-man

I woke up this morning, I left in a rush…
I forgot to eat breakfast my stomach is flushed
as I walk out the door I slipped down the steps , man I nearly broke my neck
Then I run to the bus as it speeds away,  I say great what a way to start your day
Get into work and the boss says you’re late, have your desk clean buy the end of the day
Clean out my desk as I leave in a hurry, from all of the tears my vision is blurry
I’m crossing the street I get hit by a car, I cannot see nothing now but stars
With a fractured rib and a dislocated spine the doctor says man are you out of your mind
I say no, I I’m in hurry and could avoid this all by just taking the time
As I day dream in bed this is what’s on my mind
